  • meru  this place looks awesome...anyone wanna check it out with me??

a hidden new installment in the cultural wasteland that is east midtown, this hip new ultralounge boasts of a private room and a rooftop bar decked out in minimalist decor, offering a sensation of airiness rarely found in the heart of manhattan. the crowd is a refreshing break from the usual flashy meatpacking regulars early in the week, attracted by the late night karaoke on Wednesdays and wine/cheese tastings on Thursdays, though by Friday it begins to populate with the usual crowd of skinny young things in heels and designer jeans accompanied by deep-pocketed ibankers who seduce them with bottles of overpriced vodka. the music leans towards the eclectic, ranging from the latest Beyonce to 90's classics, mostly at the DJ's whim. Saturdays at Meru On Top are increasingly popular as the weather gets balmier, but getting in will take more than luck and a couple of Brazilian model friends; the VIP list is usually kept in the single digits.
